Analysis Of The Potential Benefits Related To Implementation Of The California Toxics Rule.
Analysis of the benefits of a proposed rule to define allowable levels of toxic pollutants for inland waters and enclosed bays and estuaries within California. Benefits were estimated using data from the California Water Quality Assessment (WQA) database. Benefits were quantified for decreased health effects (cancer and noncancer cases for recreational anglers resulting from a reduction in the concentration of pollutants in fish and waterfowl tissue) and reduced ecological damages. Monetary benefits were estimated for improved recreational fishing, reduced health cancer effects, and increased bequest/existence value.
