The Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 requires that EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs review the safety of all existing pesticide tolerances (the legal limit set on the maximum amount of pesticides that may remain in or on foods ) by August 2006. There are four registered organic arsenical pesticides: cacodylic acid (dimethylarsinic acid, DMA) and its sodium salt (sodium cacodylate); monosodium methanearsonate (MSMA); disodium methanearsonate (DSMA); and calcium acid methanearsonate (CAMA).
