Technologies and Costs for the Removal of Asbestos from Potable Water Supplies, Revised Final Draft.
This document identifies technologies that might be used by community water systems in reducing asbestos fibers in drinking water supplies to below detectable limits (BDL). The concentration of 0.01 million fibers/liter (MFL), the lowest detection limit obtainable by the latest analytical procedures is established as the BDL for this document. The technologies available to a community searching for the most economical and effective means to reduce asbestos fibers in water include modification of existing treatment systems, installation of new systems and may include the selection of other water sources, such as bottled water or alternative raw water sources.
