Clothianidine: Human Health Risk Assessment for Proposed Use on Sugar Beet.
Clothianidin, a major metabolite of the active ingredient thiamethoxam, is a systemic insecticide that belongs to the nitroguanidine sub-class of neonicotinoid compounds, which have agonistic activity on nicotinergic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR). It enters through the roots and cotyledons of newly germinating seedlings and protects below- and above-ground plant parts from insect damage.
