Regulatory Impact Analysis of Environmental Standards for Uranium Mill Tailings at Active Sites, Final.
The Environmental Protection Agency is proposing health and environmental protection standards for control of uranium and thorium tailings during ore processing operations and for final disposal. These standards would apply to tailing licensed by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the States under Title II of the Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act of 1978 (Public Law 95-604). This Regulatory Impact Analysis examines the costs, benefits, and economic impacts of alternative control methods and presents the rationale for the selection of the proposed standards.
