Status of Particulate Matter Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems for Application to Electric Utility Steam Generating Units.
Continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS) are automated instrument systems that measure the amount of a pollutant in a gas stream. The purpose of this report is to: 1) present background infomation about the use of CEMS to measure particulate matter (PM) emissions in combustion flue gases, and 2) discuss the potential application of these monitoring systems to electric utility steam generating units of the size that could be subject to the New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) in 40 CFR 60 subpart Da.
