The New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) under 40 CFR 60 subpart Da regulate the emissions of particulate matter (PM), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and nitrogen oxides (N0x) from new electric utility steam generating units and from certain existing electric utility steam generating units that are modified or reconstructed, as defined in the rule. A cost study was performed in support of possible revision of the existing NSPS emission limits to new levels that reflect the performance achievable today by the best demonstrated technologies for controlling PM, SO2, and NOx emissions from coal-fired electric utility steam generating units.
