Proposal to Designate an Emission Control Area for Nitrogen Oxdies, Sulfur Oxides and Particulate Matter--Technical Support Document.
On March 27, 2009, the United States and Canada submitted a joint proposal to the International Maritime Organization to designate an Emission Control Area for specific portions of U.S. and Canadian coastal waters. This action would control emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur oxides (SOx), and particulate Matter (PM) from ships.
