The Environmental and Economic Benefits of Coalbed Methane Develoopment in the Appalachian Region.
powered by
Development of the Appalachian Basin's large coalbed methane resources could result in significant regional economic benefits, as well as reduce emissions of methane to the atmosphere. Coal mines in the Appalachian region are some of the gassiest in the United States, with underground mines releasing an estimated 120 to 200 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of methane in 1988.
