Chemical pulping accounts for 80 percent to 90 percent of all domestic pulp production. Two widely used chemical pulping methods are the sulfate (kraft) and sulfite methods. Both of these methods use chemical solvents to delignify the wood; however the methods differ in the types of chemicals used.
