The purpose of this document is to provide technical information on prescribed burning. Prescribed burning is the controlled application of fire to wildland fuels, under certain conditions, to attain planned resource management objectives. The document provides background information useful in determining reasonably available control measures (RACM) and best available control measures (BACM) for prescribed burning under Section 190 of the CAA. It also provides guidance on effectivie implementation strategies for prescribed burning in areas that are designated serious nonattainment for PM-10.
