This study focuses on the macroeconomic importance of recycling and remanufacturing in four areas: (1) number of jobs, (2) the amount an dollar value of materials, (3) savings in material costs with a particular focus on savings in energy and waste management costs, and (4) the effect of recycling and remanufacturing on the economic competitiveness of US products in the international marketplace.
